INTRODUCTORY PATHWAY
STAGE 1a – HORSE MANAGEMENT
The introductory horse management course covers the basic concepts of horse management, with each module paying close attention to the safety of the horse and handler.
By completing this course in conjunction with the General Riding, you will be eligible to complete the Introductory Coaching course. With the knowledge you gain in this course, you will be able to complete basic facets of horse management successfully.

- 12 years of age
- Access to a suitable horse

UNITS
UNIT 1 : GENERAL HORSEMANSHIP AND SAFETY
Unit 1 is estimated to take 5 – 8 hours for completion, and will introduce basic horsemanship skills as well as the safe handling of horses.

UNIT 2 : SADDLERY
Unit 2 is estimated to take 5 – 8 hours for completion, and will introduce the various types of gear used..

UNIT 3 : HORSE CARE
Unit 3 is estimated to take 5 – 8 hours for completion. This unit will cover topics including equine health and fitness, feeding, hoof care, grooming, and travel.

ASSESSMENTS
You will be required to undertake approximately 6 hours of practical assessments.
